Instrumental Workshops

Young musicians have the chance to get a firsthand lesson in performing techniques, sight-reading, musical styles, improvisation and studio recording, helping to give them the skills for productive rehearsals and sensational performances.

You’re Instrumental! Ages 6-11

During this 90-minute instrumental workshop, students will reinforce existing skills and develop new ones. This workshop is designed for band and orchestra students ages 6 through 11 with up to 2 years of playing experience. Beloved Disney music will be the conduit for learning in this interactive class where, at the end, your ensemble will put all of the fundamentals together to perform a brief musical piece accompanied by footage from a classic Disney animated film.

Musicians learn proven rehearsal and performance-enhancing techniques from a top Disney clinician as they: Sight-read arrangements of Disney music ranging from grades 1 to 3.

You’re Instrumental! Ages 11 and Up

Students learn how to get the most of your rehearsals and learn how to execute a pitch-perfect performance as they hone their sight-reading skills under the guidance of an experienced Disney clinician. Your group will examine the skills, attitudes and priorities essential to musical excellence and culminate with a very special finale: a recording of your ensemble performing Disney music accompanied by footage from a classic Disney animated film!
Performers work toward musical and technical proficiency in a real recording studio environment as they:

  • Sight-read arrangements of Disney music ranging from grade 1.5 to grade 4.
  • Incorporate accuracy and expressiveness to maximize rehearsal productivity

This 2 1/2-hour workshop is designed for middle, junior high and high school bands and orchestras.

Jazz It Up

Students enter the world of a professional jazz musician through this intensive 2 1/2-hour workshop, where they will rehearse and record jazzy renditions of several Disney songs under the direction of a veteran Disney clinician.

Performers master specific techniques to maximize your rehearsal time and execute a stellar performance as they:

  • Sight-read arrangements of Disney music ranging from grades 1.5 to 4.
  • Learn how critical timing is in all styles of jazz.
  • Fine-tune your improvisation skills with proven tips and techniques.
  • Discover the differences between swing, Latin and rock styles.
  • Become more familiar with the blues, pentatonic scales and standard progressions.

Vocal Workshops

Singers can learn key performance and rehearsal concepts from a Disney vocal professional. They will experience the recording environment, take part in a critiqued audition or learn the basics of sight-reading, listening and watching the director.

Disney’s Show Choir Magic

Singers step into the shoes of a professional vocal performer during the final stages of preparing for a new show! Throughout this fast-paced 2 1/2-hour workshop, students focus on performing while in character, and, at its conclusion, your choir will stage a special mock performance incorporating everything they have learned.

Students will execute a stellar performance and create their own magical Disney moment as they:

  • Rehearse and perform a segment from a real Disney show with choreography created exclusively for Disney’s Show Choir Magic.
  • Add style to your performances using special Disney techniques.
  • Rehearse and polish fundamental dance steps.

Disney Sings

Performers experience the exhilaration — and the demands — of being a professional performer as they prepare music and choreography for a simulated Disney show under the tutelage of a seasoned Disney vocalist. During this 2 1/2-hour program, your group will record a song from a Disney animated feature film’s soundtrack in a fast-paced recording studio environment.

Performers will also examine the skills, attitudes and priorities required for vocal performance excellence as they:

  • Learn the music and basic choreography from a real Disney production number.
  • Learn vocal techniques to improve diction and produce unified vowel sounds.
  • Develop better breath control through good posture.

Disney Sings: Young Performer Edition

Singers ages 6 to 11, experience the exhilaration of being a professional performer as they prepare music and choreography for a simulated Disney show under the tutelage of a seasoned Disney vocalist. During this 90-minute program, your group will record an excerpt from a Disney animated feature film’s soundtrack in a fast-paced recording studio environment.

Dance Workshops

Step, strut, whirl and twirl. Dancers learn from a Disney Choreographer how to improve their technique, audition like a professional, work as an ensemble or dance like a Disney star!

Disney Dancin’

Performers find out what it takes to be an integral member of a cohesive dance cast as they learn techniques to help maximize their rehearsal time and deliver a focused performance. Begin with a simulated Disney audition led by a professional Disney dancer then learn how the magic is created as dancers go through a rehearsal of a real Disney show. The 2 1/2-hour workshop culminates in a finale performance incorporating all of the elements they have learned.

Your Disney clinician will also share industry insights to give dancers a competitive edge as they:

  • Learn how to choose the proper attire for an audition and how to stand out from the crowd.
  • Discover tips for creating an effective resume and getting the best possible pictures.

Dance Technique: Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz and Tap

Designed for intermediate to advanced ensembles, these 90-minute workshops feature personalized instruction from some of the best choreographers in the world. Whether it is ballet, hip hop, jazz, or tap, you choose the style for your group to concentrate on, and we take it from there. Your choreographer will customize a course to your group’s skill level and create rewarding challenges for all of its dancers

Your group will discover what it’s like to be a professional dancer as they:

  • Dance, alone and with others, while rehearsing and performing a Disney number.
  • Discuss performance concepts and fine-tune existing techniques.
  • Learn tricks of the trade that make for show-stopping performances.

Disney’s Auxiliration

Disney’s Auxiliration gives your auxiliary unit, pom squad or color guard the unique opportunity to rehearse and to perform a simulated Disney special-event production. Following a high-energy warm-up, students learn valuable flag and movement basics. Next, in a fun upbeat atmosphere, students go through a mock Disney audition. Once they pass the audition it is time to prepare for the special event—complete with tall flag, swing flag and show props. Then, your students go through a fun-filled, Disney-style rehearsal. The 2 ½-hour workshop culminates in an exhilarating simulated performance incorporating all of the equipment and props the students have learned in a final Disney production number.

Theatre Workshops

Young actors plunge into the theatrical world where they’re exposed to audition skills, improvisational techniques, dazzling costumes and performance exercises to help them shine in show business.

Acting 101

Designed for all levels of actors, this 90-minute workshop provides students with the building blocks of theatre, while exploring performance and storytelling techniques. Led by an industry show director or improvisational actor, the course focuses on tapping into the artist’s unique voice, thereby discovering the tools to develop performance abilities. Students also learn to build character, develop improvisational skills, and maintain professionalism on the stage. Learning how to think and act spontaneously and assertively, no matter what the situation, is an ability that will serve any student well on stage—and beyond.

Disney’s Broadway Magic

Get an inside look at the fundamentals of musical theatre. Stage material from a Broadway production and learn vocal techniques as well as how to get the most out of your rehearsals and performances. Theatre groups, drama clubs, dance studios and show choirs, this is the workshop for you! Created in partnership with Disney on Broadway, this 2 1/2-hour session blends Disney magic with the glitz of live musical theatre. Students perform a number from a Broadway musical and learn about the elements required to bring one together, including music, staging, costuming and props.

A professional Disney performer will take your group through the same rehearsal process used for Disney Broadway musicals, during which they will:

  • Rehearse choreography by lyrics rather than by counts.
  • Focus on breath control and diction integrated with movement.
  • Learn how to make appropriate vocal/acting choices for a musical composition and lyrics.
  • Discover techniques for quickly learning and remembering movement and lyrics.
